Red Team and Adversary Simulation

Threat Actor Emulation

We apply, step by step, the methods of a specific group targeting your sector in your environment. We measure what your defense detects and what it misses against that group.

What it is

Threat actor emulation reproduces the documented behavior of a real group in your environment. The scenario is built from public threat reports and the MITRE ATT&CK knowledge base. Each step, from initial access to data exfiltration, uses that group's known techniques. This tests not a generic attack but one that could realistically target you.

Scope

  • Review of groups targeting your sector and selection of one for the scenario
  • Mapping the selected group's techniques to MITRE ATT&CK
  • Adapting each technique so it causes no harm in your environment
  • Recording how endpoint, identity, and network controls respond to each technique
  • Only dummy test data used in data exfiltration steps

The need

When organizations need it

  • When an organization in your sector is attacked by a specific group and you want to know how the same methods would affect you.
  • When your EU financial entity prepares for the threat-led penetration testing (TLPT) required by DORA at least every three years.
  • When you want to know if your SOC and EDR rules detect the techniques used by groups likely to target you.

Method

How we work

  1. Group selection

We identify groups targeting your sector from public reports and select one with you.

  2. Technique plan

We map the group's techniques to MITRE ATT&CK and prepare a safe execution plan for each.

  3. Emulation

We apply the techniques in the order used by the group and log each step with a timestamp.

  4. Coverage map

We show on an ATT&CK map which techniques were detected, blocked, or went unnoticed.

Outcome

What you have at the end

You know which techniques of the group most likely to target you go undetected. You can prioritize your detection and prevention efforts based on these gaps.

Frequently asked questions

How is the group to emulate chosen?

We identify from public reports the groups targeting your sector, your operating countries, and critical assets. We select from this list together with you.

Is real malware used?

No. We reproduce the behavior with harmless equivalents that your controls should detect in the same way. No data is encrypted and no real data leaves your network.

How is it different from an objective-based Red Team operation?

An objective-based operation chooses the most effective path to the goal. Emulation follows a specific group's known techniques and measures your defense against them.
