Penetration Testing and Attack Surface
Attack Surface and Attack Path Analysis
As organizations grow, untracked servers and domains accumulate. Acquisitions and cloud migrations accelerate this. We map your assets with their access relationships. We show the paths to critical systems and prioritize which to close first.
Attack Surface and Attack Path Analysis
The importance of a weakness depends on whether it is on a path to a critical system. A high-rated flaw off the path can wait. A medium one on the path cannot. A system missing from inventory is neither patched nor monitored.
The need
When organizations need it
- When a company is acquired and two networks are connected.
- When a new digital channel or campaign site increases your internet-facing assets.
- When scan reports list hundreds of vulnerabilities and priorities are unclear.
- When an audit questions the accuracy of your asset inventory.
Questions
What this work answers
- Which internet-facing assets are we unaware of?
- Which paths lead from a starting point to critical systems?
- Which weaknesses in our scan reports should we close first?
- Are the networks we assume to be separate actually separate?
Attack Surface and Attack Path Analysis
What we do
-
External Attack Surface Management (EASM)
We identify your internet-facing assets starting from your domains and IP ranges. We monitor changes.
-
Internal Asset and Service Discovery
We discover systems and services on the internal network and compare them to your inventory.
-
Unknown and Unowned Asset Discovery
We find systems set up for testing and forgotten, or whose owner has left.
-
Asset and Access Relationship Mapping
We consolidate access relationships between users, devices, and applications into a single model.
-
Attack Path Analysis to Critical Assets
We map routes from defined starting points to critical targets such as customer data.
-
Trust Boundary Validation
We technically test whether networks assumed to be separate can communicate.
-
Business-Impact Prioritization
We prioritize weaknesses by business impact. Those on a path to a critical target are highlighted.
-
Continuous Attack Surface Monitoring
We regularly monitor new assets, new weaknesses, and completed fixes.
Scope
We start with your organization's domains, IP ranges, and cloud accounts. Subsidiaries and acquired companies can be included. Internal network analysis is limited to the segments you specify.
How we work
We identify externally visible assets using open sources an attacker would use. Then we compare these with your inventory. We model the paths from these assets to critical systems and confirm the most important paths through testing.
Deliverables
What you receive
A map of paths to critical systems. Paths confirmed by testing are marked separately. A list of assets missing from inventory. The order in which weaknesses should be closed.
NoteThe attack surface expands with each new system. A one-time assessment shows your current state. Continuous monitoring detects new assets as they go live.
