Cyber Threat Intelligence and Digital Risk Protection
Technical Threat Intelligence and Detection Rules
We convert indicators and attacker behaviors from threat reports into detection rules for your SIEM and EDR. We check if your existing rules detect these behaviors.
What it is
Technical threat intelligence operates at two levels. Indicators of compromise (IoCs) are short-lived traces such as IP addresses, domains, or file hashes. Behaviors are the attacker's methods, remaining relevant even if infrastructure changes. This service turns indicators into block lists and behaviors into detection rules and threat hunting hypotheses.
Scope
- Collection, deduplication, and expiry-based management of indicators
- Mapping behaviors to MITRE ATT&CK techniques
- Detection rules in your SIEM query language and portable formats such as Sigma
- ATT&CK coverage map of your existing rules
- Threat hunting hypotheses and required log sources
- Intelligence sharing via STIX and TAXII, and platform integration
The need
When organizations need it
- When your threat feeds generate many indicators but your SOC gets few concrete detections from them.
- When a campaign targeting your sector is announced and you need to know if you could detect it.
- When you need to show management which attack techniques your SIEM rules cover.
Method
How we work
-
Sources
We extract indicators and behaviors from reliable reports, including source and date information.
-
Mapping
We map behaviors to ATT&CK techniques and techniques to your log sources.
-
Rules
We write detection rules and test them on your historical logs for false positives.
-
Validation
We demonstrate each rule firing in a controlled simulation and transfer it to your SOC team.
Outcome
What you have at the end
You receive tested detection rules for your SIEM and EDR, and a coverage map showing which techniques are visible. Intelligence is translated into actionable rules that generate alerts.
Frequently asked questions
Is an indicator feed alone sufficient?
Indicators lose value when attackers change infrastructure. Behavior-based rules detect the same method on different infrastructure. Both are more effective together.
Which products do the rules work with?
We write the rules in the query language of your SIEM and EDR products. On request, we can also deliver them in a portable format such as Sigma.
Who maintains the rules?
The rules are handed over to your SOC with documentation. Periodic updates for new campaigns can also be planned.
