Attack Surface and Attack Path Analysis

Business-Impact Prioritization

We rank the vulnerabilities in your scan reports by whether they are on a path to a critical system. Your teams address the issues that reduce risk the most first.

What it is

A CVSS base score measures the technical severity of a vulnerability, not your organization's actual risk. Prioritization adds whether the vulnerability is exploited in real attacks. It then considers the business criticality of the asset and its position on an attack path. Long lists become a short list of what the team should address first.

Scope

  • Merging scan, penetration test, and cloud security findings into one list
  • Adding exploitation data from the CISA KEV catalog and EPSS
  • Defining asset business criticality with you
  • Mapping findings to the attack path model
  • Accounting for compensating controls such as WAF, segmentation, and EDR
  • Remediation lists and target times by system owner

The need

When organizations need it

  • When the patching team cannot address every vulnerability in the reports.
  • When the board asks why vulnerabilities reported as critical remain open.
  • When an auditor asks what your remediation priorities are based on.

Method

How we work

  1. Merge

We consolidate findings from different tools and tests into one list and remove duplicates.

  2. Context

We add exploitation data, asset criticality, and attack path position to each finding.

  3. Ranking

We rank the findings based on this information and document the reason for each position.

  4. Close and check

We split the list by system owner and retest findings once closed.

Outcome

What you have at the end

You know which few vulnerabilities to close first and the reason for each. The patching effort targets the work that reduces risk the most.

Frequently asked questions

Why can a vulnerability with a high CVSS score wait?

If a vulnerability is on a system that cannot be reached or requires a condition not present in your environment, the real risk is low. This reasoning is documented for every finding.

What are EPSS and KEV?

EPSS is a model that estimates the likelihood a vulnerability will be exploited in the wild in the next 30 days. KEV is a catalog of vulnerabilities known to be exploited in the wild, maintained by CISA, the US cybersecurity agency.

Do you work with our existing vulnerability management tool?

Yes. We take findings exported from your tool and deliver the prioritized list in a format your tool can use.
