Cloud Migration Security Consulting

We design the cloud account structure, identity model and logging with you before migration begins. The first workload moves into an environment with security rules already defined.

What it is

In the cloud, the provider secures the infrastructure, while identities and configurations are your responsibility. This responsibility is established in the foundation environment (landing zone) before the first workload. Account hierarchy, central identity, mandatory security policies and central logging are all part of this foundation. Changing the foundation after migration affects running systems.

Scope

  • Account, subscription or project hierarchy and environment separation
  • Single sign-on with corporate identity and administrator role definitions
  • Mandatory security policies enforced on all accounts
  • Audit logs collected in a separate account inaccessible to workload teams for deletion
  • Connectivity and traffic rules between on-premises network and cloud
  • Decisions on data location, encryption and key management

The need

When organizations need it

  • When the decision to migrate to the cloud is made and the first workloads have not yet moved.
  • When different teams begin opening cloud accounts independently.
  • When you must comply with data location and cloud model requirements of financial or public sector regulations.

Method

How we work

  1. Requirements

We identify the systems to migrate, data classes and applicable regulatory requirements.

  2. Foundation

We design the account structure, identity model, mandatory policies and central logging.

  3. Infrastructure as Code

We support building the foundation with infrastructure as code (IaC), ensuring every new account follows the same rules.

  4. Verification

After the first workload, we review configuration and permissions. Deviations are corrected before go-live.

Outcome

What you have at the end

Migration begins in a cloud environment with security rules defined from the start. New accounts and workloads automatically inherit these rules.

Frequently asked questions

Are the cloud provider's security services sufficient?

Services are available, but some do not function until enabled and configured. You must still decide which rules are mandatory and where logs are stored.

Can we store personal data in a cloud region abroad?

This requires a legal assessment. Data protection laws such as GDPR restrict cross-border transfers of personal data. Some financial regulators also require primary and secondary systems to remain in-country. You decide with your legal counsel, and we design the architecture accordingly.

Is this still useful if migration has already started?

Yes. A running environment can be reorganized, but changing decisions such as account structure or network addressing carries risk of disruption. In this case, we prioritize and sequence the changes.
