Security Architecture Consulting
We design your network zones and administrative access so that a single compromised device cannot reach critical systems. Every design decision is delivered in writing with its reasoning.
What it is
Security architecture defines how systems access each other and where controls are applied. The work covers network zones, inter-zone rules and administrative access paths. The design follows zero trust principles in NIST SP 800-207 and network segregation controls in ISO/IEC 27001:2022. The goal is to block direct paths from user devices to critical servers.
Scope
- Design of network zones and inter-zone access rules
- Separate management network and tiered administrative access model
- Placement of internet-facing services and remote access
- Connections and trust relationships between on-premises systems and the cloud
- Logging and monitoring points integrated into the initial design
- Design document including target architecture, migration steps and decision reasoning
The need
When organizations need it
- When a penetration test achieves domain admin rights from a single user device.
- When a new data center, branch network or cloud migration is still at the design stage.
- When an audit requires you to demonstrate separation of user, server and management networks.
Method
How we work
-
Current state
We extract network configurations, firewall rules and administrative access paths from the systems.
-
Attack paths
We identify paths from a compromised device to critical systems. The design targets these paths first.
-
Target architecture
We design the zones, access rules and administration model. We document the reasoning and business impact of each decision.
-
Migration and verification
We prioritize changes based on disruption risk. After implementation, we verify inter-zone access with testing.
Outcome
What you have at the end
You receive a target architecture with written reasoning and a migration plan prioritized by disruption risk. All open inter-zone access and their justifications are documented.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to purchase a new product for zero trust?
Not always. NIST SP 800-207 defines zero trust as guiding principles, not a single architecture. Most organizations already have some elements in place. If a component is missing, we state and explain why.
Will segmentation disrupt business processes?
Before new rules are enforced, actual inter-zone traffic is logged and reviewed for a period. Blocking is applied only after unexpected dependencies are identified and with your approval.
Who implements the changes?
Usually your team or infrastructure provider implements the changes. We support your team during implementation and verify the outcome with testing.
