Security Product Selection and Configuration
Before purchasing a product such as EDR, SIEM or PAM, we translate your needs into measurable criteria. We compare candidates in your environment using the same scenarios and configure the selected product.
What it is
Product selection is often based on presentations and feature lists. In this service, candidates are tested side by side in your environment using the same scenarios as a proof of concept (PoC). Scenarios are drawn from real adversary behaviors in MITRE ATT&CK and your operational needs. The decision is based on detection coverage, false positive load, integration, and the workload for your team.
Scope
- Documenting the need and success criteria
- Technical specification and scoring sheet
- Testing candidates in your environment with the same scenarios (PoC)
- Testing integration with your existing SIEM, identity, and network infrastructure
- Configuring the selected product beyond default settings
- Validating the configuration with controlled attack scenarios
The need
When organizations need it
- When you need to prepare a technical specification for a security product tender or purchase.
- When you want to assess whether the current product truly meets your needs before renewing its contract.
- When a purchased product has been running on default settings for months.
Method
How we work
-
Need
We translate the risks the product must address and your operational requirements into written criteria.
-
Specification
We identify candidates that meet the criteria and prepare the technical specification and scoring sheet.
-
Side-by-side trial
We test candidates in your environment using the same scenarios. Results are reported with raw records.
-
Configuration
We configure the selected product for your environment and validate the result with controlled attack scenarios.
Outcome
What you have at the end
Your purchase decision is based on results measured with the same scenarios. The selected product is deployed configured and tested for your environment.
Frequently asked questions
How can we be sure the selection is impartial?
We finalize the criteria and scoring with you before the trials. Each candidate is tested with the same scenarios, and you receive the raw results. You make the decision based on these records.
Do sector regulations affect product selection?
They can. For example, some financial regulators require suppliers of critical security products to have a local response team or a written commitment that the product has no hidden access mechanism. We include such requirements in the scoring sheet from the start.
Will the trial affect our production environment?
Trials are first conducted on a limited test group. Blocking features are enabled only after results are reviewed in monitoring mode and with your approval.
