Secure Coding Training

We teach your developers the types of flaws found in your code, using examples from your languages and frameworks. The training includes hands-on exercises.

What it is

Secure coding training enables developers to recognize code patterns that cause vulnerabilities and to write secure alternatives. Topics are selected by evaluating classifications such as OWASP Top 10 and CWE together with findings from your code base. Each topic is covered in the same language and framework, using both vulnerable and fixed code. This ties the training directly to developers' daily work.

Scope

  • Topic selection based on your code review and test findings
  • Examples specific to your languages and frameworks
  • Topics such as input validation, authorization, and secrets management
  • Hands-on exercises on vulnerable and fixed code
  • Code review checklist based on OWASP ASVS
  • Measurement before and after training

The need

When organizations need it

  • When the same types of flaws recur in code reviews or penetration tests.
  • When new developers join the team or you move to a new language or framework.
  • When you are in scope for PCI DSS, which requires staff developing bespoke or custom software to receive secure coding training at least every 12 months.

Method

How we work

  1. Analysis

We identify recurring flaw types in your code base and test reports.

  2. Content

We prepare topics for your language and framework, using examples similar to your own code.

  3. Practice

Developers find the vulnerable code, fix it, and test the fix.

  4. Measurement

We compare results before and after, and review the same flaw types together in later code reviews.

Outcome

What you have at the end

Your developers recognize the flaw types in your code and have practiced the fixes. The code review checklist remains with your teams.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to share our source code?

No. Topics can also be selected from findings in your test reports. If a code review has been done, examples are prepared from those findings.

Which roles is the training for?

It is designed for developers, team leads, and software architects. Test and DevOps teams can join relevant sections.
